Mata Amritanandamayi, the hugging ‘saint’, on Thursday called for a world of love and compassion, which, she said, would lead to peace.
“Love and compassion can bring us close to one another for which spirituality is the foundation,” she said during her spiritual discourse at the Mata Amritanandamayi Mutt on the occasion of Brahmasthanam Temple Varshikotsava, when thousands converged to be a part of the spiritual experience. “We are living in an age where people have little time for anything they can do for the benefit of themselves or the others” she said, while adding that self confidence is very important.
On Friday, sessions of satsang and pujas will mark the launch of the Ashram’s new project Vidyamritam, when children from poor agricultural families of Karnataka will be awarded scholarships.
