The Goethe-Institut-Max Mueller Bhavan, in collaboration with Srishti School of Art, Media and Technology, will be organising iStoryBox, which is an innovative and thought-provoking media art installation by the German documentary film-maker and new-media artist Florian Thalhofer.
Florian Thalhofer presents a selection of his interactive films and talks about his unique form of artistic expression. His works are based on the principle that in reality things occur simultaneously rather than in succession. The projects included in the iStoryBox installation are ‘13terShop’, Florian Thalhofer and Kolja Mensing spent a month in a shopping mall in Bremen to explore life in a shopping heaven. ‘The LoveStoryProject’ is an ongoing Korsakow-film that started in Cairo in 2002 to explore how people perceive love in different parts of the world. ‘Forgotten Flags’ is about the German flag hoisted in every nook and corner during the Football World Cup in 2006, something which was definitely not an everyday phenomenon in Germany. Florian Thalhofer and Juliane Henrich started looking for what was left after the World Cup, searching for ‘Forgotten Flags’ six months later.
During his stay in Bangalore, Florian Thalhofer will interact with the students of Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology and SAE College, to give them the unique opportunity to experience the ‘art of his technology’. The event will be inaugurated on February 20. It will be on view from February 21 to February 22 from 9 am to 6.30 pm at Max Mueller Bhavan. The entry is free.
