Kirsten's session in B'lore
DH News Service, Adelaide:
India's cricketers will have a two-day interactive session with new coach Gary Kirsten in Bangalore towards the middle of next month, ahead of the three-Test series against South Africa beginning in Chennai on March 26.

Kirsten, who spent a fruitful two and a half weeks with the Indian team towards the later stages of their four-Test series in Australia, will catch up with the Indians at a 'camp' where getting to know each other will take precedence over honing cricketing skills. The session is tentatively slated for March 17 and 18.

After a day spent resting in the morning and travelling in the evening on Wednesday, Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men hit the ground running on Thursday evening with a two-hour session at the Adelaide Oval nets. There was fun and banter, but there was no lack of seriousness either as the Indians braced up for two games in three days, starting with Sunday's fixture against Australia, which will go a long way towards deciding how far they progress in the triangular series.

It is unlikely that India will make any changes to the side that has done duty over the last three games. Yuvraj Singh's lack of runs hasn't worried the team management enough to warrant serious discussion on his place in the side, and there is substance to the theory that class will out. The Punjab left-hander had an extended session at nets, batting in two stints; the vice-captain needs time in the middle more than anything else, and it may not be the worst idea to push him up the order to perhaps number three, where admittedly Gautam Gambhir has had great success thus far.

Sachin Tendulkar was the lone man missing from Thursday's outdoor nets, but should be in attendance at Friday morning's session at the Oval.

New physio

The Indian cricket team will have a new physiotherapist before the home series against South Africa starting next month, it was announced by a top official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India here on Thursday, adds IANS.
