The petroleum ministry’s decision to hike the petrol and diesel prices by Rs 2 and Re 1 respectively might have come as a shocker for many.
However, for many vehicles users, who prefer getting their fuel tanks filled at private petroleum outlets like Shell and Reliance, Thursday’s hike may not have affected much.
Fuel prices in these outlets remained unchanged as they had effected a hike only a month ago. Reliance Industries Limited has been charging Rs 55.26 per litre for petrol and Rs 40.38 for diesel. Similarly, Shell has been charging Rs 56.65 and Rs 42.45 for petrol and diesel respectively.
Protest
Meanwhile, the BJP on Friday staged a massive demonstration in the city against the fuel price hike at Chalukya circle.
The party activists chose a unique way of protest by roping in a donkey in their demonstration. MLAs R Ashok and S Raghu took part in the protest.
