Food with flavour

If sizzlers is your kind of food and 70s music gets your foot tapping, Tangerine, in Indiranagar, is a must try

For those familiar with the taste of Tangerine, the restaurant at Indiranagar, the opinion is probably unanimous when it comes to quality dining experience. If sizzlers is your kind of food and 70s  music gets your foot tapping, Tangerine is a must try.

The appetisers and salads make a good meal by themselves too but if you are a foodie and can make space for a multiple-course meal or have a good number of people dining together, then start from the top. There’s plenty to choose from the soup and salad section. Ensure you just nibble on them and save space for the appetisers. Potato skins (with a choice of vegetarian and non-vegetarian fillings), Tofu cutlets, fish fingers, fried prawns, chicken sticks and crab cakes, to name a few, make great accompaniments for the strawberry, orange, coconut, passion fruit and even coffee and chocolate flavoured mocktails.

Dedicate a good share of space for the pastas because the chef here sure knows how to make them. And they are easy on the stomach as long as the non-cheese options are chosen. Let’s move on to the sizzlers that Tangerine is popular for. There’s plenty for vegetarians, defying the notion that a sizzler is best when it’s non-vegetarian. Depending on a light or heavy main course, pick from the Indian as well as non-Indian variety further choosing your vegetables and sauce apart from the levels of spice.

Expanding the already extensive menu, Tangerine has added in some fresh taste to each section in the new menu. This time, slightly disappointing the vegetarians with just one option for appetisers and one choice of sizzler. In this case, the pasta and corn salad is a great pick and if pineapple suits your taste, the Vegetable Cecilia among the sizzlers will do well.  Here, the non-vegetarians have much to choose from. Garlic lemon prawns, smoked chicken bruschetta and mini lamb cutlets to start off with and flavours of prawn and chicken to add to the sizzlers list.

“It’s just a few recommendations that we have got in and we will try this for a few months to see how it’s received. Depending on that, we will decide what goes into the main menu and what’s taken off completely,” says Dinker Rao of Tangerine.

What meal is complete without the dessert? Apart from what the restaurant offers in its regular menu, the Beer mousse, that’s been added, is an interesting choice. With just a hint of beer layered with cream and cake, the taste is balanced and delightful. If it still isn’t appealing, there’s plenty of chocolate varieties in the list apart from walnut mocha, lemon cheese cake, apple pie and much more. Tangerine is located at 311, on 100-ft Road, Indiranagar.
