It was ‘art attack’ at the Bright Sparks Montessori last week. In a bid to create a platform to bring out the creative best in the young ones, Bright Sparks had organised an art exhibition.
The expo was no less than going down the memory lane for the 30 kids, all aged between 2-5 years, as all the art projects that were on display, were what they had done over the past few months. From a trip to the forests, bird watching to a dip in the sea, the kids created these and many more experiences at the expo. Different modes of transport, veggies, fruits, occupations and symbols associated with India also found a place in the arty world of these budding artists. Keychains and bookmarks made by them were also on display.
“Bright Sparks believes in imparting lessons through creative projects. By doing this we are not only informing people of the importance of arts in education but also allowing kids to think out of the box,” says Fathima Chinoy of Bright Sparks.
Apart from encouraging kids to involve in arts and crafts, we have also had professionals from different walks of life coming in and enlightening them about their jobs. For instance, we had a chef come in and give a demonstration on how to make chinese food. We have also had a potter give the kids hands on training in pottery. We take the kids on picnics too, she adds. “We believe in touch, feel and understanding rather than in blackboard education. We want to provide these kids with a lot of choice. But with this kind of freedom and experimentation, we also stress on responsibility and confidence building measures,” says Fathima. The school is located at 36/1 Millers Road, Benson Town, Bangalore. Visit the school between 12 noon and 1 pm between Monday and Friday.
