A Delhi police assistant sub-inspector, who along with his six colleagues was accused of extorting over Rs 19 lakh from an aide of kidney kingpin Amit Kumar, was on Wednesday remanded to three days’ judicial custody by a court here.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) A K Kuhar sent accused Ravinder Kumar Singh to judicial custody till February 23.
Delhi police submitted before the court that Kumar’s aide Upender, from whom he had allegedly extorted money, has already identified the accsued in his test identification parade at Tihar jail here.
Extortion
The seven policemen, including Singh, had allegedly extorted Rs 19 lakh last month from the driver of Upendra, one of the main accused in the Gurgaon kidney racket, for letting them go scot-free after being picked up.
Singh was arrested on February 14 while the other six accused are absconding.
