Riding on a 63-ball century from Surendra P, Combined Mysore XI upset Canara Bank by one wicket in a thrilling Super League encounter of the MTR-Nivarana Basavanagudi Cup cricket tournament at the NHS grounds here on Wednesday.
Favourites Canara Bank, who took first use of the wicket scored a healthy 218 for seven in the stipulated 30 overs thanks mainly to Deepak Chougule’s 57. Bharat Chipli chipped in with 49, while veteran Sunil Joshi made a useful 37 down the order.
In reply, Combined Mysore XI found the going tough as Chougule followed up his half-century with a five-wicket haul to put the skids on Combined Mysore XI. However, Surendra did the rescue act for Combined Mysore XI by blazing his way to a swashbuckling 101 with the help of 12 hits to the fence and three over it.
Suman excels
Elsewhere, T Suman’s all-round show (89, 4-25) propelled Hyderabad Cricket Association to a 30 run win over Air India. Batting by choice, HCA made 219 for seven with Suman doing the bulk of the scoring. Habib Ahmed gave good support to Suman by making a valuable 32. Later, Suman returned to torment the Air India batsmen who could manage only 189 in 28.5 overs despite a fighting 54 by Suresh.
