Collingwood rues missed chance
Paul Collingwood, the England captain thought his team's impressive batting performance was all in vain as the Kiwis closed in on victory in the final few overs in the Napier one-dayer. "With six of seven overs left we were dead and buried. You do fancy your chances when you put 340 on the board but with the short boundaries you can't count your chickens," he said.


India, Lanka fined for over rates
Both India and Sri Lanka were fined for bowling their overs too slowly during their cricket tri-series match in Adelaide, reports agencies.
ICC match referee Jeff Crowe imposed the fines after India was found to be one over and Sri Lanka two overs short in Tuesday’s match. MS Dhoni was fined 10 per cent of his match fee with each of his players receiving five per cent fines while Mahela Jayawardene was fined 20 per cent of his match fee and each of his players receiving 10 per cent fines.
Shyam Sunder bags gold
Karnataka’s Shyam Sunder bagged the gold in the Tall category of the 23rd Federation Cup body building championship held in Mumbai on Feb 16, reports DHNS. Sabastian finished fourth in the same category while Shanoor Ali clinched the silver in the Supertall section. In the same group, Sheshappa and R Suresh took third and fourth places respectively.
Namdhari XI edge past BPCL
Karamjit’s hat-trick helped Namdhari XI score a narrow 3-2 win over BPCL in the Maharaja Ranjit Singh hockey tournament on Wednesday, reports PTI from New Delhi.
Natarajan wins chess title
Vetrivel Natarajan overcame top-seeded Priyanka Sudhindra in the final round to clinch the under-15 title in the Prakrit Kidzone inter-school chess tournament over the weekend in Bangalore.

Singapore to host night race
Singapore will host the first ever Formula 1 Grand Prix night race on September 28, reports UNI from New Delhi. Deputy Chairman of Singapore GP, Colin Syn said, “We have pulled out all the stops to ensure that the teams and the spectators get a first class experience.”

Mahesh Bhupathi and his partner Mark Knowles entered the second round of the SAP Open with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Czech duo of Jaroslav Levinsky and Radek Stepanek, reports PTI.
