Brit-Chinese actress Fiona Man, who will be seen in Bangalore-based director Swaroop Kanchi’s romantic comedy ‘Hong Kong Dreaming’, was in the City for the post-production work of the film, recently.
The actress plays Fiona, a young girl, who returns to Hong Kong from London to attend her estranged father's funeral. On her return she finds that her father has left something for her, so with her best friend Charlie, she sets out to find her inheritance. With this they also find in each other something that was lost from within. Kai C Wong is with her in the movie.
“Working in this movie has given me an international experience. There was Wong, a Singaporean of Chinese descent and Swaroop, who is from India. Communication initially posed a slight problem, but we managed fine as days went by. It was really great fun as we shot on the locations, which was something different for me as most of the time, I’ve shot in the studios,” says Fiona.
Swaroop says Fiona was a great asset. “She took the responsibility on her shoulders and has done a good job. In fact, she fitted the role perfectly. The film was for her and she for the film. Fiona agrees and says, “I’m quite like the character. It was easy to fit the bill due to my London background.”
While the post production work took up most of the time of this model-turned-actress, Fiona did get to experience the nightlife in Bangalore. “But I was unable to experience the City fully, thanks to the traffic. Also I’ve heard so much about the movie ‘Taare Zameen Par’ after coming here that I plan to watch it sometime. I think Aamir Khan’s really cute,” she says.
‘Hong Kong Dreaming’ was something that Swaroop had planned when he was taking a break in Hong Kong. “My idea about filming is travelling and getting to know different cultures and people. This time it was Hong kong that inspired me. It is the only mainstream film I have made till now. While the film will be shown in the festivals, I am planning to release the film in India. Next, I’m planning to make a movie on Bangalore. I would also like to shoot in London and Paris for a romantic film.”
