Muslim inhabitants of Tumkur are not terrorists and they would never indulge in any such activities. However, due to the encouragement provided by some officials terrorists are taking refuge in the city mosques, urged former minister Sogadu Shivanna.
Thus, the police need to take these officials into custody and interrogate them, he added.
He was addressing an emergency meet that was convened in Tumkur on Thursday.
It is saddening to know that Tumkur is being associated with terror activities in the recent times, he added.
Without revealing the name of an official, Mr Sogodu Shivanna indirectly indicated that an official in the city was responsible for encouraging the terrorists’ movement in Tumkur.
“A couple of months ago muslim residents of P H Colony and other areas had approached me and informed how unknown muslims were seen praying in their mosques and also how their delayed stay in the mosque had led to suspicion among the muslim fraternity. Moreover, the relations between the Hindus and Muslims in the Tumkur city had never been strained,”, said Mr Sogadu Shivanna.
Vigil
However the police and the public in general need to be cautious about the movement of strangers in the city. DySP K M Arifullah was also informed about this but he did not take any action in this regard. As a result the people in Tumkur have to live with the association of their city with terrorism, added former minister.
Moreover, we need to handle the present situation in a brave manner. Also, the Governor should take stringent action through the concerned departments to combat terror activities, he suggested.
CMC ELECTIONS
BJP is going to act as the opposition in the CMC elections to be held on Friday. Also, in the forth coming days it is going to provide constructive criticism about the various developmental activities, informed the former minister.
If the words of Mr Sogadu Shivanna are keenly observed it can be noted that he is not going to make any of his candidates stand for the post of the BJP president or vice president, in the CMC elections to be held on Friday.
However, nothing is certain in politics, he observed.
Also, present at the meet were BJP city unit general secretary T S Niranjan, president Rameshachar.
