The Commission has received several complaints against the warden of the women’s hostel situated on Railway Station Road, he said. There are also complaints against several other hostel wardens in the district, he added.
The Commission would recommend suspension of Tumkur warden and transfer of cook and other staff of the hostel.
More hostels sought
Thousands of students belonging to Backward classes study in Tumkur, which is a education centre. Now that Tumkur also boasts of a university, there is an urgent need to have more hostels. Hence, the Commission would write to the government urging it to start more hostels, Mr Dwarakanath said.
Officials have no clue on the facilities being given to people belonging to backward classes in areas such as Gollarahatti. This is a clear case of dereliction of duty by the officers. Such officers have been warned, he added.
He also said that the Commission would request the government to enhance the funds being given to the Commission. A survey of the people belonging to the backward classes would be conducted once the election to State Assembly is announced, he noted.
