Maulana Azad Passes Away
New Delhi, Feb. 21.
Maulana Azad, who had a paralytic stroke on Wednesday night, was in a state of coma throughout but for a brief spelt this morning.
For a short period he regained slight consciousness and is reported to have identified Mrs Aruna Asaf Ali. He asked for the removal of the oxygen tent and when the injection needle was being applied he is stated to have told the doctor “Leave it to the Allah.” Shortly after this he relapsed into unconsciousness.
Wheat From US & Canada
New Delhi, Feb. 21.
The Government of India had made arrangements for the import of 1.6 million tons of wheat in the first half of 1958, the Deputy Minister of Food, Mr AM Thomas, discussed in the Lok Sabha today.

Shock & Anguish Over Assam

New Delhi, Feb. 21.
The profound shock experienced universally in the country in the wake of the holocaust in Assam claiming around 1000 lives had its inevitable echo in Parliament today with members of both Houses deeply disturbed over the tragic turn the situations in that strife-torn State has taken.
In the Lok Sabha, both the ruling party and Opposition members decided to give the highest priority to Assam situation. Consequently, the question hour was shelved.
