The avant-garde French Alain Brunet trio will join the tabla player Manosh Bardhan and Sarod player Debi Prasad for a performance in Bangalore on February 23.
Brunet trio’s performance with the Indian musicians is set to draw up as much curiosity as the two different disciplines of music will bring out an exquisite mélange. The Indo-Jazz fusion performance comes soon after Black Dog and Radio Indigo brought the biggest International Jazz and Blues festival – ‘Indigo & Blues’ to Bangalore in December. Radio Indigo and Black Dog have partnered to bring in several international jazz appearances to the city in an endeavour to put Bangalore on the international jazz map. The Alain Brunet performance reaffirms the pursuit.
Alain Brunet (vocals and trumpet) will be accompanied by Luc Fenoli (guitars) and Jean-Louis Do (drums).
Brunet is a jazz trumpet player who began his career at the age of ten. His talent led him to perform with well-known French and international jazz artists and to participate in numerous music festivals across the world. After a tour of the US, he was invited to record an album in Los Angeles and consequently became part of the sextet of Prince Lawsha Orchestra on the West coast. Since 2000, he has been a part of the Didgeridoo Orchestra Project and participated in prestigious musical encounters in Moscow, Manila, and Cairo as well as in Africa and Polynesia. His concerts in Iran and Pakistan led to the recording of an album with traditional Persian music.
The French jazzmen trio and Indian musicians are set to draw from their many cultures and transcend their musical links at the Grand Ashok on February 23 from 8 pm onwards. The event is produced by Radio Indigo. Entry is by invitation only. For more information call 25501128.
