No wonder, tipplers in Haryana are saying a boisterous “Cheers” to the new excise policy announced by the government.
The government has also increased the number of assorted liquor bottles an individual can stock, to 108 under a life-time licence and has also allowed imported liquor sale at the malls.
Moreover, the government has also allowed the departmental stores in shopping malls to stock whisky, beer, vodka, gin and rum for sale. It had already allowed these stores to sell wine.
The move to keep the pubs and bars open 24 hours by paying an additional Rs 10 lakh licence fee is aimed to cater to BPO sector employees in Gurgaon, said to be the country’s BPO capital with over 2.5 lakh employees working here.
To suit all pockets and tastes, the government has introduced 60 ml and 90 ml liquor bottles and has also announced to open ice bars.
With neighbouring Punjab already known as the land of big boozers, it seems Haryana is taking fast strides to match the Punjabis.
