The most curiously awaited elections to the posts of President and Vice President in Bagepalli TMC was held on Friday and Sarojamma of Congress was elected as the President of TMC. Aa Na Murthy was elected as Vice President.
There are 23 members in Bagepalli TMC, out of which 9 are from Congress, 6 from CPI (M), 5 from JD (S) and 3 are independent candidates. No party had got a clear majority.
The President’s post was reserved for ST candidate and the Vice President post for candidates from General category. Congress, CPI (M) and one independent candidates had one ST candidate each.
Kanthamma of CPM and Jakir got 6 votes. However, Narayan, Ganesh, Narasimhappa and independent candidate Shankar did not participate in the election.
