Scurrying through your morning chores before heading out for that important business meeting, you tend to simply set aside the very important meal- breakfast - to meet all other demands that arise in the life of today’s working professional. It’s nothing but a typical morning.
Breakfast is certainly not only the most important meal of the day but also the one that, most often, there is never time for. For many of Bangalore’s working population, breakfast on the move has become a way to beat the constraints of time. And there’s plenty of options to begin the day with. Whether it’s a quick takeaway, business over breakfast or a wholesome spread that one is looking for, cafes in the City, apart from the regular restaurants and hotels, have designed breakfast menu to suit this specific growing need.
The idea, says Rini Dutta, vice president — Marketing and Product Development, Barista Coffee Company, was mooted as a result of a new product development exercise. “There is a growing trend among consumers globally to couple breakfast with business.
The target audience, being between the age group of 20 and 30 years, spend most of their time out of office as well as away from home. Their business is on the move and their meetings usually at various places. There is a need for value breakfast.”
Reiterating the trend, Brainard Colaco, corporate executive chef of the Mocha chain in India says, at times breakfast is much after the normal hours in the morning. “For many of our clients, morning begins in the afternoon. After late hours of work and night shifts, many still prefer a breakfast menu even if it is early noon.

Which is why we introduced the all-day breakfast that will serve everything that breakfast calls for at any time of the day.”
And the spread not only spans the gamut of English breakfast, with a touch of Indian dishes, but is also for the weight-watchers. There’s toast, baked beans, juice and egg white for those who fear taking in any unnecessary calories. For the others, there are butter and cheese options. “The idea is to ensure a wholesome breakfast that’s tasty, not messy and leaves you pleasantly full,” says Rini.
Takeaways are also popular for those on the move, says Gautham C B of Donut Baker. “It works well for those who want to grab a bite but don’t have the time to dine-in. Doughnuts are a favourite of many for breakfast and we also cater to bulk orders from corporates who pick them up before going to work.”
Breakfast now goes hand-in-hand with work and this trend gives no reason to miss out on the big first meal.
Start your day on the right note because no matter how much you ignore it, the fact is that a good breakfast goes a long way in giving you that much needed headstart to face the day.
