Suspend UB City plan: Lokayukta
Karnataka Lokayukta has directed the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike to suspend the approval granted to the plan of UB City on Vittal Mallya Road.
In a letter addressed to the Palike Commissioner, the Lokayukta said that a group of residents of Vital Mallya Road complained him of the road being encroached by builders of UB Towers. As per the survey records obtained, the Palike had erred in approving the modified plan of the building showing the width of the road. The Lokayukta directed the Palike to suspend the permission and take measures to restore the width of the road.
More Bangalore One centres
Bangalore city will have twenty more Bangalore One centres, Information Technology Department Secretary M N Vidyashankar said on Saturday.
Delivering a lecture on Information Technology initiatives in Karnataka at a seminar organised by Karnataka regional branch of Indian Institute of Public Administration in Bangalore, Vidyashankar said at present 19 Bangalore One centres are functioning in the city.
The setting up of 20 more centres will benefit the public in getting the necessary services.
Vidyashankar said that state government will also set up citizen service centres in Hubli, Dharwad, Belgaum and Gulbarga as well
‘Upgrade meters by March 31’
Autorickshaw drivers have been told to upgrade their electronic meters before March 31. Most autos continue to ply with the meters showing Rs 12 per km, though rates have been hiked to Rs 14 per km from February 1. Very few autos have opted for the upgradation, said a release from the controller of the Meterology Department.
Inventors’ meet
Rotary Club of Bangalore will hold its annual young inventors meeting at Jawaharlal Planetarium on February 24 at 9.30 a.m. The event will start at 10am. Creative ideas by children from 13 schools will figure in the meeting.
Eco-friendly roof tops, fire alarm, USB powered fan, blind mind busters, burn calories, electric rat trapper will be some of the experiments on display.
The programme is jointly organised by the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium and Rotary Club of Bangalore and sponsored by the John F Welch Technology Centre and Arjun Menda trust.
No power
There will be no power supply on February 25 from 10 am to 4 pm in the areas of Kanaka Nagar, Nagenahalli, Sultanpalya, Dodamma Layout, Rathnamma Layout, Manorayana Palya, Shampura, P & T Quarters, Bhuvaneshwarinagara and surrounding areas. An official release said that this was due the maintenance work carried out by the BESCOM at 11KV F-2 feeder of L R Bande Muss.
Power supply will also be interrupted on the same day at Veeranna Garden, Moore road, Robertson Road, Coles Road, Hynes Road, Spencer Road and surrounding areas.
This is due to maintenance work to be carried out on F-7 feeder in E-1 sub division.
