'Failure of talks led to defeat'
Kolar, DHNS:

The Congress has suffered failure in the CMC elections to the post of president and vice-president as the party failed to patch up the difference of opinion among its members, said Congress leader and Union minister of State K H Muniyappa.

He was addressing the media after the elections.

However, in reality the Congress had won the majority in the CMC elections. But due to the difference of opinion among the party leaders the Congress had to face this kind of a situation,he stated.

Moreover, the talks that took place between A Krishnappa and Kagodu Thimmappa should have taken place quite early.  If the talks had taken place between the two as intended then the outcome of the results would have been different, Mr Muniyappa added.

Moreover, whoever might have won the elections the developmental works should be carried on without any hindrance and partisanship.

Also, those elected to power should carry out the developmental works and realise the aspirations of the common man. Moreover, the developmental works that were brought to the city by legislator K Srinivas Gowda during the tenure of chief ministers S M Krishna and Dharam Singh need to be implemented with earnest, observed Mr Muniyappa.

Such developments is common in a democratic set up. However, action will be initiated against those party members who have engaged in cross voting, he added.

Will the suspension of Varthur Prakash be revoked against the background of his faction winning the post of president and vice-president in the CMC elections?

There is no relation between the two, said Mr Muniyappa.
