Garments gutted in godown
DH News Service, Bangalore:
Textile materials and garments worth crores of rupees were destroyed in an accidental fire that broke out on Saturday morning at a godown in Bommanahalli industrial estate, near Kudlu Cross on Hosur Road.

Police said that at around 10:55 am, Arvind Mills security staff noticed flames emanating from their godown.
Immediately, they alerted the fire and police department.

Nearly a dozen fire tenders from various fire stations were roped in to put off the flames. Heavy capacity tankers, water bowzers and jets were pressed into action as the flames gained height. Nearly 70 firefighters were seen battling the blaze, for more than eight hours.

The godown is said to be one of the biggest in South India, and it was from this godown that garments were supplied to the entire South. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.

Traffic jam
Following the fire accident, the entire stretch of Hosur Road witnessed traffic jams. Fire tenders and police officials vehicles too had a tough time reaching the spot.

After hours of struggle, traffic police, with the help of crime, and law and order staff managed to clear the traffic.
