Cattle fair begins in City
DH News Service, Tumkur:
Cattle from across the State have gathered at the Siddaganga mutt grounds to take part in the cattle fair organised on the occasion of Siddalingeshwara jatra to be held from February 28.

Cattle fair, which began on Sunday, is an age old tradition followed by the mutt every year before the jatra.
Speaking  to Deccan Herlad a mutt spokesperson said that farmers from districts including Tumkur, Chitradurga, Kolar, Bangalore rural, Mandya, Mysore and Hassan assemble at the fair to sell their cattle. The buyers of cattle are farmers mainly from North Karnataka.

Price
The price of a pair of cattle ranges from Rs 40,000 to 1,50,000, depending on their breed and strength.

Thousands of cattle have already assembled at the mutt grounds and mutt has taken full responsibility of providing fodder and shelter to these animals. Farmers accompanying the cattle also have been provided with food and accommodation.

Colourful pendals built for sheltering more expensive cattle caught the eyes of devotees who visited the mutt on Sunday.
