Ishant summoned for hearing
India’s Ishant Sharma has been summoned by match referee Jeff Crowe for a disciplinary hearing on Monday after a face-off with Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds, reports PTI from Dubai.
Ishant had exchanged heated words with Symonds and had pointed fingers towards the pavilion after he dismissed the Australian all-rounder in their tri-series match.
Ishant has been charged under Clause 1.6 of the ICC Code of Conduct and if found guilty he could be reprimanded or fined upto 50 per cent of his match fee, ICC spokesman Sami-ul Hasan said. The hearing will be held at the team hotel.
Johnson, Clarke biggest losers
Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson’s decision to miss the Indian Premier League had cost him USD 500,000, a report has claimed. While several of Australian cricketers joined the lucrative league, Michael Clarke, Johnson and gloveman Brad Haddin decided to stay away from it. Sunday Telegraph claimed Clarke stood to earn USD 800,000 a season.
Pawar wins Austrian Open
Ace shuttler Anand Pawar has become only the second Indian to win Austrian Open men’s singles crown, reports agencies from Vienna.
Pawar, 21 defeated world number 60 Vladislav Druzchenko of Ukraine 21-16,21-15 in Vienna on Saturday, a Tata Padukone Badminton Academy press release said. Late Syed Modi was the first Indian to achieve the feat. The win is expected to push the 124th ranked Pawar up the ranking ladder.
Sekhar enters semifinal
Sekhar blanked Raja 3-0 to enter the semifinals of the TA Selvaraj Open prize money snooker tournament at the KSBA hall on Sunday, reports DHNS from Bangalore.

IPL to boost T20 cricket: Richards
Welcoming the cash-rich Indian Premier League, West Indian great Vivian Richards said the huge money associated with the venture would do a world of good to cricket, reports PTI from Melbourne.
The original master blaster said there was nothing wrong in bringing a lot of money to the game as it would be beneficial for the players. “If it can be arranged I don’t think anything would be wrong with that. Others, establishment-wise, see these things sometimes as threatening but I think it must be discussed,” Richards was quoted as saying in the Sydney Morning Herald.
North pip South for Vizzy Trophy
North Zone lifted the Vizzy trophy which concluded at the Gandhi Grounds on Saturday, reports PTI from Amritsar. In the final, North defeated South Zone on the basis of the first innings lead.
North Zone, in their first innings, had hit 413 all out in 131.3 overs while South were all out for 240 runs in 69.4 overs. North, in their second innings, scored 243 all out in 85.2 overs and South were 185 for 5 in 51 overs in their second knock.
Buchanan wants Pak tour to go on
Former Australian coach John Buchanan believes the tour to Pakistan should go ahead to prove terrorists cannot disrupt daily life, the media reported, reports IANS from Sydney.
"I think it is bigger than cricket. Cricket would be the medium by which you can keep making life as normal as possible," Buchanan was quoted in Sydney Morning Herald.
Indian golfers strike it rich
Indian golfers continue dominating the earnings list as six of them were among the top 10 in the Asian Tour's Order of Merit after the SAIL Open tournament that finished on Saturday, reports IANS from New Delhi.
Indian Masters champions Shiv Shankar Prasad Chowrasia missed the cut but continues to sit atop the Order of Merit list with $416,660.
Chowrasia is followed by Jeev Milkha Singh ($ 133,330) in the second place while another Indian Digvijay Singh (S$ 116,520) has dropped from third position to fourth. Randhawa is the fourth Indian as he moved up two places to the fifth spot with $86,133.
Gaurav Ghei ($73,640) is seventh and Arjun Atwal ($56,740) is ninth.
Magad on his way out
The Sports Authority of India (SAI) has accepted Egyptian coach Magad Salama’s resignation as coach of Indian wrestling team, reports PTI from Patiala.
Though there was no official confirmation, sources said that SAI has accepted Salama’s resignation. Salama has been in touch with Egyptian Embassy in New Delhi since his resignation, though he has been staying at NIS guest house.
