The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), is setting up an IT finishing school and incubation centre this year, opposite the Infosys campus, in the city. This was announced by STPI Director J Parthasarathy, at the inauguration of the phase I of Theorem Company.
“Only 30 per cent of engineering graduates coming out of our universities have adaptability to the industry. And it is to train the rest of the 70 per cent and make them suitable for employment, that finishing schools become important,” Parthasarathy said. He lauded the fact that companies these days were themselves coming forward to train employees in their own premises.
Noting that India is set to be the BPO hub of the world, he said, that the industry is set to touch $ 60 billion by 2010. Engineering outsourcing is the new sunshine BPO industry, he said, adding that companies worldwide were also outsourcing legal and management affairs.
Cyber patrolling
City Police Commissioner Dr P Ravindranath, gave a warning to all web-users saying that the high storage devices these days, helped police on cyber patrol to store all that is accessed on internet and could help them catch those indulging in cyber-crimes.
