Docs resume their strike
DH News Service, Bangalore:
Confusion prevailed amongst factions of the Junior Doctors Association, who resumed the strike on Monday. After a key member of JDA announced that the strike was called off following a meeting with the Governor on Sunday, doctors were back at the porch with placards on Monday morning.

Association President Chandrakanth Kesari said that there was a lot of confusion on Sunday regarding the suspension of the strike, but it had not been called off.

The Governor’s advisor had announced the withdrawal of the strike, but did not give assurances in writing.
“Either the Governor should give it in writing or should pass a Government Order which warrants legal action against those who assault doctors. When we asked for written assurances, the governor said it will take some time” said Kesari.

Sources amongst the JDA said the decision to call off the strike was taken by one member who was not a representative of the entire association, and this triggered ego clashes amongst the members.

The Junior Doctors Association issued a press note saying that the strike will resume under the Adhoc Strike Committee.
