Shravana, who worked with a scrap dealer, was in love with a girl at Bandepalya in Madiwala Police station limits. He would frequent the locality, and this irritated Mariappa, who was also in love with the same girl. Mariappa had financial dealings with Shravana’s employer, Raju. On Monday night, Shravana was asked to collect some money from Mariappa.

Seizing this opportunity, Mariappa picked up a quarrel with Shravana and allegedly attacked him. Mariappa, his friend Salim and some others are said to have roughed up Shravana before stabbing him in the stomach. They then crushed his head with a stone. Police said that after killing Shravana, the accused fled the spot.
Madiwala police have registered a case.

Lone woman robbed
Close on the heels of the armed dacoity at Mahalakshmi Layout a couple of days ago, four robbers - including two women -  robbed a lone woman of Rs 12 lakhs in cash and jewellery worth Rs 2 lakhs at BCC layout, on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred between 1.30 pm and 2 pm. Mushrath (35) was home with her 3-year-old child. Her husband Mohammed Afsar was at work and her children were in school.

Mushrath was in the first floor of her house, when the robbers, whose faces were covered, barged into the house.  They overpowered her at knife point and brought her to the ground floor. They then took out Rs 12 lakh cash and 149 grams of gold ornaments. Before fleeing, they tied her up and stuffed a cloth into her mouth.

After some time, Mushrath’s neighbours found her. They freed her and contacted the police. A police team from Chandra Layout police station rushed to the spot.  A case has been registered.
