DH News Service, Tumkur:
"Proposals to open new police stations in the city have been submitted." This was announced by Central range IGP Doreswamy Nayak at a press conference in the city on Tuesday.

He was speaking to the media persons after the public meeting and added that he was in agreement with the SP Dr Harsha’s suggestions for more number police stations in the area.

“We have received about 40 proposals for new police stations and also are working towards reinventing the police department with new and innovative practices. The department personnel also have to be brought into the age of globalisation and introduced to the modern practices and eventually help the common man.

Technology has been playing an important part in solving and reducing crime around the world and it is high time that we caught up with the rest of our counterparts across the globe.”  said SP Harsha.

Strong indications were sent  from the statements of both IGP Doreswasmy and SP Harishekaran that Tumkur would see atleast two new police stations and a new women's’ station under its jurisdiction. The officials also said that feed back from the public about the effectiveness of Cheetah has been encouraging.

Six high speed Cheetah bikes were recently introduced in to Tumkur force to help curb crime on the roads. The reported success rate of these vehicles has been very promising Among the other top officials who participated in the meet included Additional SP Ananthramu, Probationary SP Thygarajana and others.
