Mahotsava on March 5
Kolar Gold Fields, DHNS: The Mahashivaratri mahotsava will be held on March 5 at the famous temple of Sri Swayam Bhuvaneshwara swamy temple in Madiwala near Kyasamballi in Bangarpet taluk.

The temple built by the Cholas has fine carvings and is popular among devotees of the border areas. A host of events has been organised on Mahashivaratri day  by the temple management committee. On the morning of the Mahashivaratri day abishekha will be done to the linga which will be followed by Harikatha in the evening and drama of Bhakta Prahalada in the night. A lot of cultural programmes has also been organised.

Office-bearers elected
Gowribidnur, DHNS: The following have been unanimously elected as the office-bearers of the taluk-level Working Journalist Association for the period of 2008-09.

 President-Shiva Kumar, Vice-President-Jaganath Reddy, Chief Secretary-K H Upendra Rao, Treasury-Lakshminarayana, Assistant Secretary- Ranganath, Working Committee members-M R Nagaraj Rao, Devimanjunath, Somesekhar, P V Rajanna, K P Narayanappa, Santhosh Rao and others have been unanimously elected .

Eye check up camp today
Kolar, DHNS: A free eye check up camp has been jointly organised by Social Welfare Department, Nodal Higher Education Centre, R L Jalappa Hospital and Research Centre, former MLA M Narayanaswamy and district Blindness Eradication Institution at Kembodi Primary health centre on February 27.

The camp will start from 10 am in the morning and will go on till 1 pm in the afternoon.
