Dowry death: ASI arrested
DH News Service, Bangalore:
RT Nagar police station Assistant Sub-Inspector Kempaiah was arrested on charges of murdering his daughter-in-law in connivance with his two sons, wife and two others, at his RT Nagar residence on Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, Roopa (23) was found hanging from the ceiling fan hook  at about 2.30 pm on Wednesday. She had married Lokesh, a software engineer, about three years ago. The couple have a two-year-old son.

Roopa’s father Bette Gowda, a resident of Awarehalli near Giri Nagar, complained to the police that his daughter’s  in-laws had murdered her.

Lokesh, Kempaiah and his wife Puttamma, another son Yashavanth, daughter Pushpa and Puttamma’s sister have been arrested. Harassment for dowry is said to be the reason behind the incident.

Roopa had attempted to commit suicide thrice before, said sources.
