Singapore woos Indian tourists

 The Singapore Tourism Board (STB), on a road show in the city, is wooing the Indian tourists and tour operators.
Singapore recorded the fourth highest tourist arrivals from India with 749,000 visitors last year, which is seven per cent of the total visitor arrivals in 2007, said Regional Director, South Asia, Middle East and Africa, STB, Siew-Kheng Kang at a press meet in Bangalore on Wednesday.

Over 53,165 people from Bangalore visited Singapore as well during the same period, making the city the second largest visitor source from South India, Singapore is the number one outbound destination for Indians with 52 per cent travelling for leisure and 30 per cent from the corporate sector, she added.

Director, Sales, Marina Bay Sands, Paul Stocker said the integrated resort will include a casino, MICE area, a shopping mall, theatres and a hotel all in one property. The project will be ready by 2009.
