Bangalore, DHNS:

A ten-day exhibition of the handicrafts and a live demonstration of different art forms began at Five O Gallery at M C Road in Vijayanagar on Wednesday.  The Centre’s Ministry of Textiles is sponsoring the event, which is organised by the Karnataka Artisans’ Welfare Association.

S C Devaram, who holds additional charge as the Assistant Director of Regional Design and Technical Development Centre, Bangalore, said the folk painting of Sullur, toymaking at Channapatna, Inlay craft of Mysore and sandalwood carving at Sirsi will be demonstrated by skilled craftsmen during exhibition.

“The cost of the exhibition will run to Rs 2.25 lakh, 75% of which will be borne by the Textile ministry,” he said. The works of around 35 artisans will be displayed during the exhibition, which will wind up on March 7.  The exhibition is open from 10 am to 9.30 pm on all the days.
