Summer camp for kids at Inlingua

Inlingua International School of Languages is organising a summer camp for children between the age group of 6 and 12 years. The programme would include topics like language enhancement, reading and listening skills, social skills, etiquette classes, table manners, story reading, public speaking, etc. The three week programme would concentrate on overall personality development of the child. Registrations are open and admissions would be on a first-cum-first serve basis.

Venue for lecture series

Honeywell (NYSE: HON) recently announced that the Government College of Engineering, Pune (COEP), has been identified as the venue for the Honeywell-Nobel Laureate Lecture Series, a global education initiative designed to connect students across the globe with Nobel Prize winners in Chemistry and Physics. Dr George F Smoot, the 2006 Nobel Laureate in Physics, will visit the COEP campus in the first week of March to deliver a lecture on The History and Fate of the Universe and interact with students and faculty. He will also deliver a colloquium on The Cosmic Microwave Background during his visit on March 4 and 5.

The Honeywell Nobel Laureate Lecture Series brings students together with some of the world’s most advanced minds to inspire and motivate the development of the leading scientists of the future. The India initiative was launched in December, 2007, with the visit of Dr  Sheldon Glashow, the 1979 Nobel Laureate in Physics, to the Visveswarya Technological University, Belgaum, Karnataka.

Honeywell will also host an Orkut Community (http://www.orkut.com/Community.aspx?cmm=41602117) providing students a chance to read previous Nobel Laureate Lectures that were held in the USA, Shanghai and Belgaum last year.

Academic partnership

Dayananda Sagar Institutions, a premier in education, unveiled the Dayananda Sagar Global Education in an academic partnership with the Karnataka State Open University. One of the highlights of the educational programme is the introduction of PG Diploma in Forensic Technology & Cyber Crime. As stated by Dr Janardhan Jha, Senior Advisor, Dayananda Sagar Institutions, “Today there is a surge in the cyber crime and trained cyber warfare personnel is the need of the hour. Approximately 20,000 personnel are immediately required by the industry. The year 2007 had recorded a loss of $ 7.7 billion, by virtue of the Cyber Crimes.”

With courses being offered at Bachelor Level, Masters Level and Executive Level, Dayananda Sagar Global education is significant in its approach to Industry Relevant education, most of which are being offered for the first time in India. The Executive Level Programmes are so designed keeping in view the constraints of Professional Executives. JSSTICE course

The JSS Training Institute for Competitive Examinations (JSSTICE) will conduct a course for candidates intending to take Indian Forest Service (IPS) Examination 2008 being conducted by the Union Public Service Commission, (UPSC) with effect from 12th July 2008. The course will commence in the first week of April 2008.

Training in printing

Training for hospitality graduates

Blackpool and The Fylde College is offering a 15-month professional training programme in international hospitality management for graduates of overseas hotel schools interested in making a career in the United Kingdom.

The 15-month sandwich programme consists of two in-school semesters of three months each and fulltime paid industrial placement for nine months. After completion of the 15-month programme, graduates can apply for one-year stay back under the International Graduate Scheme.
