'Raj Bhavan Chalo' on March 3
Chikkanayakanahalli, DHNS:
A massive "Raj Bhavan Chalo" rally has been organised by the farmers on March 3, urging the Government to fix scientific support price for sugarcane, said Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene Vice-President Kodihalli Chandrashekhar.

Speaking to media persons here on Monday at the travellers’ bungalow, he said, so far, several memorandums had been submitted to the Government.

The Governor, his advisors and the secretaries had failed to respond to their problems. Hence, the farmers had decided to organise this protest rally, he added.

The farmers who cultivate sugarcane, have to spend around Rs 20,000 for the planting of saplings. The Rajya Raitha Sangha has decided to organise a rally in protest against the Government’s decision to join hands with the 35 private sugar factories’ lobby.

Already, the Rajya Raitha Sangha had toured the entire State and had created a lot of awareness in this regard. The farmers should not commit suicide out of desperation, they had the support of the Raitha Sangha, he added.

After fighting for the sugarcane prices, the Rajya Raitha Sangha will be fighting for the problems of coconut and coffee growers. Coconut oil was being imported from Sri Lanka and Maleysia to our country and hence, the prices of copra had gone down in India. The prices of copra has not remained the same, what it was in the last 20 years.

The copra market is ruled by the whims and fancies of the politicians and traders.

The Government would be urged to open Nafed purchase centre, once the prices of copra falls down, Mr Kodihalli Chandrashekhar said.

In the forthcoming elections, various leaders are planning to get elected to the Assembly, with the backing of land mafia, liquor and mine lobbies. However, Rajya Raitha Sangha will emerge as one of the most active and committed parties against all the odds, he added.
