Two men get life term
Tiptur, DHNS:
Two  men were convicted in a murder case and were sentenced life term, 10-year rigorous imprisonment and Rs 10,000 fine as well.

District First Fast track court delivered the verdict against Shivakumar and Nagaraj who had murdered their friend Ambarish (25) and robbed him of Rs four lakh.

Ambarish was working in a copra shop at Arasikere in Hassan district. He was sent to Bangalore by the owner to sell copra on July 3, 2006. When Ambarish was returning from Bangalore, his friends Ravikumar and Nagaraj from Arasikere followed him and at Kibbanahalli cross they phoned him and called him come with them. Before leaving for Arasikere via Tiptur on their motorbike, they made him drink liquor at a bar.

When they reached Konana Kavalu Forest area, they stabbed him and decamped with Rs four lakh. They had dumped the body into a pit before going to Arasikere.

Tiptur rural police CPI J B Manjunath had investigated into the case. Phone call that the culprits made from a coin booth in Tiptur to Ambarish provided crucial clue in cracking the case. After two years of judicial enquiry, on February 1 the verdict was delivered.
