The crowd started pouring in from various parts of the state, especially from his home district of Shimoga, since early morning.

Yeddyurappa who paid a visit to Yeddiyur to pay obedience to his family deity was accorded a cheering welcome as he reached his residence. They garlanded him, offered him sweets and told Yeddyurappa that he was destined to become the chief minister of the state once again. The entire areas resembled a sort of fair.
However, commuters had a tough time as the traffic jams lasted for hours on the already “dug up” Race Course Road..

No rivalry
Several BJP leaders including many from the rival Ananth Kumar camp, also greeted Yeddyurappa. However, Ananth Kumar himself is in New Delhi attending the Parliament session.

BJP National Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, State unit President D V Sadananda Gowda were among those present. A special pooja was also preformed by Yeddyurappa’s family.

Speaking on the occasion, Yeddyurappa thanked the people for showering their blessings on him. “I am indebted to you. By the grace of God and your support, the BJP will come to power with a full majority this time”, he said. A large number of saffron clad swamjis were also seen in the crowd.

Film actors Ashok and Ramakrishna visited Yeddyurappa residence to greet him.  BJP workers also distributed fruits to patients in government hospitals and clothes to the poor and held poojas in temples in the city.
