Trade licence renewal date extended
Bangalore:
BBMP has extended the time for renewal of trade licence without penalty till March 7, following the request from traders. Earlier, the Palike had announced February 29 as the last date.

Those who apply between March 8 and 31 will have to pay 25 per cent of the total fee as penalty and those who apply from April 1 to June 30 have to pay 100 per cent of the fee as penalty. Trade premises of those who do not renew before June 30 will be sealed. Traders can get their licenses renewed at BBMP counters at all offices of Medical officer of Health and a counter at FKCCI head office on Kempe Gowda Road. The counter at FKCCI will be opened between 10.30 am and 6.30 pm.

Association Coordination Committee (FKCCI) Chairman B K Goyal said that huge number of traders were getting their licences renewed at the counter. Earlier traders were not aware of the renewal process. After FKCCI’s tie-up with the Palike on setting up counter traders are coming forward to renew their licences.

WRONG INFO ON AIR
Wrong information on trade licence aired in a live interaction programme on All India Radio, on Thursday, forced a senior officer of BBMP to rush to the studio and correct the mistake.

BBMP in association with All India Radio, Bangalore conducted a live interaction programme ‘Lunch Box’ on renewal of trade licence between 1.30 pm and 2 pm.

Listeners were asked to get their doubts cleared by calling AIR studio. Medical officers Dr Venkatesh and Dr Dharmendra were receiving calls and clarifying their doubts.

A roadside dhobi shop owner called up and asked for the procedure on obtaining licence for his shop. One of the officers in the panel told the shop owner that submission of khata extract is mandatory for the renewal.
However, submission of khata extract is not necessary for the same.

Deputy Commissioner (Resources) U A Vasanth Rao, who was listening to the programme, was surprised by the clarification given by Palike officers.

He rushed to the station and somehow entered the studio. Rao got only a couple of minutes in the half-an-hour programme to correct wrong information aired earlier.
