The waste material disposed near the gate caught fire. However, the fire squad who came on time, were successful in dousing the fire. CMC President Aslam Pasha, Vice President Vale Chandru and other officials visited the spot.

Traffic movement was effected on NH 206 due to the fire accident  for some time.

When the public expressed their ire over the issue, the President indirectly questioned the district administration’s functioning saying that the main reason behind the mishap was the yet to be launched waste disposal unit at the Ajjagondanahalli  which has been stopped due to various reasons and there is no proper system for dumping wastes till now, he added.

However, the waste collected from the city as for now has been disposed off in the outskirts of the city and the city lacks a proper place for disposing the wastes.
