Social justice is just a distant mirage at the cooperative sector. It is only after the implementation of the report of the Vaidyanathan Committee that one can expect justice in this sector, said president of district cooperative union Byalahalli M Govindagowda.
Though the government took several initiatives to strengthen the sector, cooperative movement has not grown as strong as was expected of it. In its history of over hundred years the sector has in fact been weakened by government officials and administrators. Political leaders have used it as an instrument to achieve their vested interests, he said.
Vaidyanathan Committee report recommends least government intervention in the cooperative sector.
The the report is implemented that will do some good to the ailing sector, opined Mr Govindagowda while speaking at the one-day training programme jointly organised by Karnataka State Cooperative Federation, Kolar District Cooperative Union and Scheduled caste community multi-purpose cooperative organisations at Kolar on Thursday.
