Bicycles, free bus pass, uniform, notebooks and text books and many more facilities that the government has been providing seems to have made an impact on children.
Teachers who expressed their confidence in getting better results in the SSLC exam this year in the taluk felt that these schemes have encouraged the students to pay more attention to their studies.
Observing the gradual increase in SSLC pass percentage, a head master of a government school said that the students and teachers together, from the beginning of the academic year, have put a lot off efforts to get better results.
Girls v/s boys
Interestingly, girls from rural areas have emerged with flying colours in the SSLC exams for the past few years.
Even this year rural students seem to excel in the exam.
Of the 2,926 students who appeared for the SSLC exam, 1892 students passed. Over 3,000 students may appear for the exam this year.
Many people have come forward in the taluk to assist the SC/ST students in their studies and several programmes in this connection are going on.
KGF Girls Government Junior College Principal has announced special prize for the children of these categories for scoring highest marks. Various organisations and donors in the taluk have also announced awards for the meritorious students, encouraging the students to endeavour for better results.
