Opposition Seeks Judicial Probe
Bangalore, Feb 27
The Praja-Socialist Party Opposition and the only Communist member in the State Legislative Assembly today demanded a judicial inquiry into the police firing on the employees of the Hindustan Aircraft Factory on February 25.
A Praja Socialist Party member in a scathing criticism of the Congress administration emphatically urged for the resignation of the Ministry as their action would never find the support of the people.
Aid To India Vital For US Security
Washington, Feb 27
Mr Richard Nixon, the Vice-President, has named India as the country whose freedom and independence were vital for the security of the United States.
Mr Nixon was on Tuesday asked at a Foreign Aid Conference called to mobilise public support for the mutual security programming why the US was extending assistance to countries whose economies were “Socialist.”

Akalis’ Religious Demands Accepted
New Delhi, Feb. 27.
Prime Minister Indira Gandhi today took a major step towards defusing the prolonged political crisis in Punjab by accepting the Akalis religious demands.
Addressing a mammoth congregation at the Bangla Saheb Gurdwara here, she said the Government had decided to relay Gurbani – recitation from the Granth – from the Jullundur station of All India Radio, to allow Sikh’s to carry a nine-inch Kirpan (with a six-inch blade) on IA flights.
