State Chief Secretary Sudhakar Rao on Thursday exhorted the state government employees to live up to people’s expectations and work diligently to minimise people’s woes during the President’s rule.
Inaugurating the first State Parishat meeting of the Karnataka State Government Employees’ Association, Rao said, “When there are no public representatives, it is the responsibility of government employees to attend to the grievances of the public. They should stop coming to Bangalore to get their grievances redressed”, he observed.
Secretary to the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms Syed Zameer Pasha asked the employees to be more responsive to the needs of people. “During the Janata Darshan programmes lots of complaints are being received regarding settlement of pensions, non-release of scholarships and non-transfer of khatas. This shows that the administrative machinery is not functioning effectively”, he remarked.
A resolution seeking implementation of the fifth pay commission report, setting right the anamolies in the annual promotions, formulation of new transfer policy was adopted.
