Banjaras demand facilities
Bangalore, DHNS: A delegation of Uttara Kannada Banjara Association recently called upon Goa CM Digambar Kamath and submitted a memorandum urging the Goa government to extend facilities to people belonging to Banjara community, who have settled in Goa for over four decades.
Progressive farmer award
Bangalore, DHNS: The Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi has conferred the ‘Progressive Farmer Award’ to K V Rakesh of Kollibylu district in Chikmagalur. A release from the institute has stated that Rakesh, who has been growing paddy and cultivating crops has been selected for the award for adopting integrated pest management practices, sprinkler irrigation system and organic farming practices. The award was presented by Minister for Industries and Labour Singal at the Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela 2008, held on February 23.
