The coracle row competition was held in Kunigal lake on Wednesday as part of Zilla Utsav. The competition made everyone gathered over there to watch the competition remember the famous song  ‘Moodal Kunigal Kere nodorgondaiboga...’ As many as 15 men teams of men and 6 women teams participated in the competition which was a real treat to the eyes.

One of the specialities of the competition was the participation of boatmen from Tigalarapalya of Kunigal, Markonahalli.

Shambhulingaiah and Girish from Tigalarapalya won the first prize with Rs 3,000 cash, Harish and Anand from Tigalarapalya bagged Rs 2,500, while Shankar and Kumar won the third prize with a cash prize of Rs 2,000.
In women’s division, Parvathamma and Doddamma bagged first place with a cash prize of Rs 3,000 and Jayamma and Yallamma won the second prize with a cash prize of Rs 2,500.

Honnamma and Jayamma won the third place with a cash prize of Rs 2,000. The winners were given certificates also.

DySP Prabhakar inaugurated the competitions. Valedictory function was held which was presided over by Tahsildar B Shivaswamy.

District fisheries senior assistant director Kubendra Nayak, state youth award winner Raveendra Kumar, Zilla Utsav sports committee president M Mahendra Kumar, Secretary C U Eerappa were also
present.
