WE'LL FINISH WORK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE: SUBRAMANYA
Palike commissioner Dr S Subramanya has admitted that he committed an error by issuing statement before performing...

Old water supply pipelines stopped him from making his assurance of completing the underpass within 73 hours a reality. Now he has decided not to give assurances before performance. Here are excerpts from his interaction with Deccan Herald.

DH: What is present status of underpass work?
Dr Subramanya: As I said pre-cast elements will be placed soon after ground gets dry, placing elements has begun. We have to place 20 pre-cast elements for completion of the underpass.

DH: When will the work be completed?
I don’t want to assure you with deadline. All I can say is we will make efforts to complete the work as early as possible.

DH: How this will help ease traffic on Bellary Road?
Before the construction of underpass was taken up, on an average vehicles used to wait for 12 minutes at Kaveri junction in peak hours. However, now the situation is not so. Movement of vehicles on Bellary Road is faster as there is no signal at Kaveri junction. Similarly movement of vehicles at Bhashyam Circle is also fast.

After the work is completed vehicles moving towards Mekhri Circle have to take U-turn. That will reduce piling up of vehicles for hours.

DH: When will you take up work at BDA junction?
Soon after the completion of the work that we have taken up.
