Three people died in three separate road accidents in the city in the last 24 hours.
In the first incident a software engineer lost his life after he rammed his motorcycle into the road divider on MG Road on Saturday night. Police identified the deceased as Irfan Nazir Baig (26), a native of Kashmir. He was working at Crane Software. On Saturday night he was returning home from office when the accident occurred.
In the second accident, one Govind Raj (63), a resident of Vasanth Nagar, was knocked down by a car when he was crossing the road on Sunday morning.
The victim was on a morning walk when the incident occurred.
The third incident has been reported from Peenya where a pillion rider was killed when a lorry hit a motorbike from behind, on Sunday morning. The bike rider sustained grievous injuries and he has been admitted to a private hospital.
Theft at temple
Thieves struck at the Sri Rama temple at Avenue Road and decamped with the idols of Lord Rama, Seetha and Anjaneya on Saturday night.
The idol were reportedly made up of Panchadhathu (Five metals).
The secretary of the temple Manjunath has lodged a complaint at the Chickpet police station.
