Renowned flautist Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia was honoured on Sunday with the Sangeetha Ratnakara Award by Sri Surabharathi Sanskrit and Cultural Foundation. Mr Chaurasia is the third recipient of the Sangeetha Ratnakara Award after it was instituted in 2006 to honour those who have contributed to the cause of music. In 2006 and 2007, Dr M Balamuralikrishna and Dr L Subramaniam were conferred with the Sangeetha Ratnakara Award. Sanskrit scholar Vishwanatha Gopalakrishna Sastry was also honoured with the Sastra Ratnakara Award. Pandit Chaurasia performed during the programme.
