The achievements of Koodige Sports School has set a model to the whole state through its unique contributions to the sports field, said Youth Affairs and Sports Department Assistant Director K Suresh.
He was speaking at the inaugural of a three-day sports tourney for the invited high school boys and girls convened as part of the silver jubilee of Koodige Government Sports School here on Sunday. The sports achievements of the students of this school is remarkable in the sports history of the district, he observed.
Art and sports activities are complementary to build a civilised society, Mr Suresh said. Presiding over the ceremony, Koodige Gram Panchayat President T P Hameed said the school was established due to the efforts of former chief minister late R Gundu Rao 25 years ago and through its achievements, the school has brought laurels to the entire district.
It is a matter of pride that the place has also got a Sainik School recently thus heralding the greatness of Kodagu. Local students should utilise the benefits of these facilities, he appealed.
Sports department Deputy Director M R Mohithi hoisted the flag. Koodumangaluru Gram Panchayat President K P Krishna inaugurated. Taluk High School Assistant Teachers’ Association Assistant Secretary T G Premkumar, Somwarpet Sub-division DySP M Narayan, school head Kunthi Bopaiah, Koodige Sainik School Registrar M S Kaveriappa, History professor from Mysore R Rajanna were present.
