'NAXAL CONTROL'
Villagers allege police atrocities
DH News Service, Sringeri:

Residents of K Masige Village here have alleged that the police have been harassing the locals in the name of Naxal control.

T R Raghu from the village informed that the police have been entering the homes of the people in Kigga and K Masige area and have been holding enquiries and indulging in using abusive words on the local residents. “If there are some extra rice or vegetables in the house, the police allege them of having brought extra food to feed the naxals. They also threaten the locals of dire consequences like it happened in Menasinahadya    openly. This is the plight of the people here,” said Mr Raghu who is the volunteer in Kudremukh Rashtriya Udyanavana Virodhi Sanghatane.

He added that the local residents are living amidst a sense of fear as the police who keep on patrolling, without any rhyme or reason pick on any of the villager and start charging him of baseless allegations of supporting the naxals.

He also said that the people are being mentally torchered as the police are not even sparing the school students.
