Balakedarara Vedike convener Shankaranarayana Bhat from Balehonnur has condemned the government decision to make passing in VIII standard examinations a compulsory criteria for driving vehicles, as it provides employment even to many uneducated persons.

He said the decision of the Central government has caused problems not only to heavy vehicle drivers, but also light weight vehicle drivers and autorickshaw drivers. He questioned as to why none of the MPs raised their voice while the rule was being brought into force.
