Logo change shows innovative spirit
Sir, This refers to the letter, Logo change: A wasteful exercise (DH, Jan 19). I fail to understand why there should be any objection to the Canara Bank changing its logo. "
The bank’s leadership has done well to move with the times and have created a beautiful logo.
It is part of the changes that should happen in any company and the chairman should in fact be congratulated for his innovative spirit.
The charge of wasteful expenditure is ridiculous.
What has customer service to do with a change of logo? As a customer of the bank for a long time, I am happy with the service and proud of the progress made by the bank. Canara Bank is a long-established bank with a century of great service and the efforts of the chairman of the bank to make it a successful modern institution in a highly competitive environment should be appreciated.

Justice, at last!
Sir, The judgement in the Bilkis Bano rape case is certainly a case of justice delayed but not denied and it is most welcome. One has to feel happy that the “law of our land” in this case at least has taken the right course to dispense justice to an unfortunate, innocent victim of one of the worst crime perpetrated by the Bajrang Dal and VHP goons during the post Godhra train inferno pogrom of Muslims in Gujrat in 2002.

Unpleasant facts
Sir, The judgement in the Bilkis Bano case, while giving some hope, also reminds us of innumerable cases which have neither been registered nor pursued. The tragic incident of a pregnant woman being raped and her relatives being killed also once again brings to the fore the story of Gujarat carnage. The ideology which led to this carnage is still upheld by many. One has to hang one’s head in shame while recalling what was engineered in Gujarat and more so as to what is taking place in the aftermath of the tragedy of such mammoth proportions.

Bogus list
Sir, This has reference to your editorial, Timely action (DH, Jan 12). Indeed it is shocking to know that 33 lakh bogus voters have been included in the draft electoral rolls.
If this is due to some administrative lapse, it is understandable. But if this move is master-minded by some person or persons with political motives, it is worthwhile for the Election Commission to order a thorough investigation to expose the individual enumerator, and the person or persons under whose influence and inducement the enumerator worked.

Heartening
Sir, India’s cricket victory over the mighty Aussies in their own den is most heartening to cricket lovers the worldover.
This is so because the Aussie cricketers showed themselves in poor light because of their bad qualities like being ill-mannered, entertaining a superiority complex, patent arrogance and adopting unethical means to win a match. Now they have been humbled by the well-behaved Indian team with one day to spare!
