A package of Canadian animation films meant for adult viewers and some rare archival films on Indian troops in action, in various parts of world during World War II, will be among the major attractions at the forthcoming 10th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF), the world’s third largest documentary and short film festival.
The festival, which will be held from February 3 to 9, will screen 44 films in the international competition section and 54 films in the Indian competition section, apart from a number of films in non-competitive sections.
The festival has attracted 228 entries from 37 countries and 543 films from within India, chief producer Kuldeep Sinha, from the Films Division, told reporters here on Friday.
He said that the World War-II package comprises of the “rarest film records” of Indian troops, and features battles fought by Indian soldiers in Britain, Russia and other countries.
The festival, which hopes to attract over 5,000 delegates, will showcase films from many countries, apart from retrospectives of Oscar-winning documentaries and biographical films on various famous personalities.
